Iranian Hackers hacks US Navy Computer Systems

Iranian Hackers

US officials accused Iranian hackers for hacking unclassified U.S. Navy computers. If it proves true, the incident would be one of the most serious cyberintrusions from Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Russia Today, The U.S. doesn’t believe important data was stolen, but the attacks showed a new level of Iranian hacking power, including the ability to access military data.

The officials said hackers working for the Iranian government or a proxy group with approval from Iranian leaders are responsible for penetrating the unclassified Navy computer network.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey were briefed on the infiltration and how the Pentagon is boosting its network strength. Congress has also been briefed on the hack, officials said.

The attacks came just as U.S. and Iranian officials tried to restart negotiations over Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program. President Barack Obama and Iranian President Hasan Rouhani spoke by phone on Friday.
